Fairview Road Stevenage
CDS worked with Durkan Ltd on a £100m development project was part of the Governments Affordable Housing Programme. The contract value was £125,000 and completed in 18 weeks.
The nine-storey block of flats comprising of External Wall Insulation and Marley Eternit Textura (Pelicolor) Rainscreen claddings panels, with an Alcan Alucobond panel used to create a splayed eave to the top of the building. This involved a bespoke sub-frame with the Alucobond routed to fit around the frame work, which required ventilation at the integration point with the vertical wall cladding.
Joyners Field Harlow
The two six-storey buildings, at Joyners Field on the outskirts of Essex new town, have been upgraded as part of Harlow’s on-going programme to ensure all municipal housing meets the Governments Decent Homes Standard.
Main Contractors Makers (UK) Ltd, Social Housing Division, now part of the Mears Group awarded CDS the contract to install External Wall rainscreen cladding using Strata Nature, which is a textured aggregate-faced cladding panel from CEP Claddings that has enabled Harlow District Council to refurbish two residential apartment blocks without drastically altering there appearance. The 3,000 m2 project value was approximately £505,000 and was completed in 26 weeks.
Phoenix High School Shepherd’s Bush
As part of the Building Schools for the Future initiative, the Phoenix High School Redway building was remodelled to create a new IT teaching block. This project was run by Frencon Construction and CDS were awarded the contract to install a secret fixed rainscreen cladding system.
The overclad of the Redway Block block consisted of External Wall Insulation with CEP Cladding’s high pressure laminate panel Bauclad that was structually bonded to CEP’s 1066 lightweight aluminium framing system and Rockwell polycarbonate vertical wall cladding system.
The project value was worth approximately £201,000 and was completed in around 22 weeks.
Lauriston Primary School Hackney Neilcott Construction Ltd appointed CDS to install a rivet fixed rainscreen cladding system.
Trespa Meteon HPL panels have been used to add a splash of colour with nine different colours being used with an aluminium sub-frame and external wall insulation.
The contract value is £80,000 and the project is on-going with works being completed in two phases.
Newhall Estate Harlow The Newhall Estate development includes over 10,000 homes with Verry’s Construction winning the contract for Phase 4 of the development, with CDS being awarded the External cladding contract which included external wall insulation, aluminium sub-frame and Trespa Meteon panels on the front face with a timber veil being hung in front of the Trespa Meteon cladding panel.
The entire contract value was approximately £545,000 and the project is on-going at present with completion due in summer of 2009.
New Shires Car Park Leicester As part of the £3 billion makeover of Leicester’s town centre, the John Lewis Multi-storey Car Park and Housing development was built across the road from the New Shires Shopping Centre.
CDS undertook the contract from Norwest Holst (now called Vinci Construction) to install a Metsec lightweight steel framing system. The external walls were then insulated and a fibre cement panel was riveted into place. The car park ramps sub-frame consisted of a bespoke aluminium framing system with a Trespa Meteon cladding panel used on the ramp façade.
The contract value was £684,000 and completed in approximately 26 weeks.
The Levels Cambridge
The exclusive ‘The Levels’ development in Cambridge was a unique installation in that the Marley Eternit Textura (Pelicolor) had 6 different orange colours that used special Dulux coatings being applied to the panels. The contract also involved installing a PPC aluminium splayed eaves to the roof of the building with integrated aluminium string course flashings between the rainscreen cladding system.
The contract was completed in 20 weeks at value of approximately £174,000.
